Nothing
better than organizing an amazing week end on Sunday morning. Telephone, skype
and a trip is planned. Together with some friends we agreed to visit Bruxelles
and the Flanders from 28/02 to
03/04/2014. The musts: chocolatiers,
breweries and a bike ride if the weather will be ok . The program is still in progress.
Does someone want to join in? For groups it is possible to get better prices in
hotels and restaurants and we could even visit some sites which are
normally not open for individuals. Dates: from 28/02 to 03/04/2014. Follow us
for further details!

Christmas sweets from Puglia
Saturday
afternoon, out of work. Day from the leaden sky , few people walking. What to
do? Easy answer, I’ll use my kitchen for a sort of daily trip. Thinking about Puglia
, south of Italy, I decided to prepare a typical Christmas sweet: the cartellate
(or carteddate ). I've tasted them a long time ago, but their flavor of is not easy to forget . The
preparation takes quite a long time
because everything has to be done at home.
Ingredients
are the big problem because in the area where I live some of them are not
available in normal shops. There are several recipes for the pastry both with
or without eggs. I’ve tried the one with flour, yeast, white wine and no eggs. All
the recipes I’ve found agree about one single step: the pastries have to be fully immerged in a
syrup called “cooked wine”. That's the product that makes cartellate so special.
Two are the versions: the first one is made
of figs , but as the harvest
season is past, I therefore choose to prepare the syrup according to the second version made from wine grapes. The
grapes of Puglia is definitely another quality, but I hope I have made an appropriate choice
with Barbera grapes harvested in these days.
The
cartellate had to rest for one night,
then I cooked them in oil and finally
they were soaked in the special syrup.
Result: delicious!!
Cartellate are crisp and the flavor is good ... yum ! W Puglia and its gastronomy,
my Saturday inspiration!

Lonely in the desert
We’ve
recently came back from a journey in the South of Morocco through the kasbah
route and desert trails by 4x4. In a night of dark moon we spent the night in a
tented camp surrounded only by sand dunes and silence. The daily sun and heat
moved to a starry sky and cool wind. We were the only guests at the camp except
for the camp caretaker, the 4X4 driver and three dromedaries for the morning
walk on the dunes.
The walk
through the dunes started before dawn and while we were trying to remain seated
holding strongly to the dromedaries
saddle, we saw two figures in the top of the dunes in front of us
. A lonely couple walking on the dunes trying to grab the sunrise just like us.
We took as many pictures we could and lately we left the camp and went on with our journey .
The surprise came in the evening at dinner time . We sit at the dining table with all the other guests of the lodge and found out that we were sitting right next to the couple we met in the morning in the desert!
How nice to share a moment like this with them!
Yesterday, when they emailed us the pictures made during the walk ... well, it's pure joy ! Thanks Sandra and Ralph and maybe see you soon somewhere in the world during the next journey!

New Blog, first step
The first
post of our new blog, the first brick to give a shape and color to our life
made of travel experiences. Life is travel and we do it both physically and
mentally.
Every day our
goal is to make people travel so the
journey itself becomes the essence of our life.
We can travel
for real to different places, but often when we are at home we enjoy a sort of
journey in the gastronomy combining international dishes with local ingredients or listening to music from all over the world.
This blog
is dedicated both to those who are interested in this aspect of our life and who would like to share
and comment our experiences and those who want to find an opportunity to
visit or to learn about new destinations with our help and support.
